Weekly Comics - May 20, 2009

Agents of Atlas #5 (The Agents tangle with the Avengers, and the book continues to grow on me. It still doesn't have my interest as much as the miniseries did, but it's good and getting better.)

Batman: Battle for the Cowl #3 (Kind of ends with a whimper, not a bang, and the whole apocalyptic villain plot is never really delved into properly, but there are some good moments, and I'm curious to see where the Bat-books go from here. A decent transition from Batman R.I.P. to the next thing, and better than I expected)

Captain America #50 ($1.00 extra for a recap story, even one with art by Marcos Martin? And a main story that's also mostly filler, about Bucky's birthday? It's readable, thanks to the talented creative team, but it's a weak issue of the run, and a really weak anniversary issue)

The Incredibles Family Matters #2 (The super-doc, great banter, good super-action... Mark Waid was the perfect writer for this one, and the art is great too)

Uncanny X-Men #510 (On some levels, I really like this book, especially the 'kitchen sink' Morrisonian approach to all the mutants - on others, like the art and especially the nebulous villains and murky, rambling plotting, not as big a fan)
