Best of 2020 - Graphic Novels

I bought 28 graphic novels this year and I've read 20 of them so far, so I'm doing OK keeping up. Considering I have 13 left unread from last year and the year before that too. Most of them are hardcover omnibuses, like the Avatar and Korra series, New Teen Titans, BPRD, and a couple Marvel Select from IDW.

This year I did catch up on some stuff on my backlog, like Descender (and it's sequel Ascender), Paper Girls, Pathfinder, Harrow County, The Wild Storm, and Rat Queens. I finally read Blacksad, which has been on my list for a long time. And I did a reread of the last few Brubaker/Phillips projects and Black Hammer. All in all, I read just over 50 graphic novels this year, a lot of them big omnibus type things, so I'm pretty happy about that.

If you wanted to get a sense of what I think was the best of 2020, and you're only buying graphic novels, here are my recommendations:

1. Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky (Four trades, with a hardcover coming in 2021)
2. Immortal Hulk (Seven trades, or two swanky hardcovers, with a third coming in 2021)
3. Criminal (A bunch of trades, or four swanky hardcovers, two of which are getting reprints in 2021, not to mention the OGN Pulp and the new graphic novel series Reckless)
4. Black Hammer (A bunch of trades, or three swanky hardcovers with a fourth on the way in 2021)
5. Junji Ito (This year's were No Longer Human, Venus in the Blind Spot, Twisted Visions (an artbook), and Remina)
6. Black Cat (Two trades)
7. Savage Avengers (Two trades, third coming in 2021)
8. DCeased (Two hardcovers, with a third coming in 2021)
9. Fire Power (One volume, with a second coming in 2021)
10. Die (Three volumes, ongoing)
